Straw Bale House is now a family-run reality inspired by the principles of permaculture and situated on the Eastern slopes of Mount Etna, on the edge of the Etna National Park, at an altitude of 900 m above sea level.
We are working towards the establishment of our own self-sufficient ecosystem using environmentally-friendly building, the cultivation of fruit and vegetables and the growth of spontaneous wild plants in synergy with the raising of small livestock, the adoption of solar energy and the use of rocket stoves, recovery of rainwater, waste composting, as well as play areas for children, short courses and workshops, cultural events and so on.
